  1. Most countries require approx. six months left on your passport before they will let you pass through customs. This is done so that your passport will still be valid on your departure date. Even if you plan to stay for only a few days, they will not let you in because they don't want to have to check up on people to make sure they've left the country. This is why your passport expiration date is actually a bit after the point where you can no longer travel on it.

Sorry, you'll need to postpone your trip!

EDIT: Actually, according to the site I found searching about this, in Hong Kong you only need to have a passport valid at least one month after your intended stay. I'm not positive, but if this is true you are in the clear. So long as you had exit tickets, you should (by this rule) have no problem entering or exiting. T he only way to know for sure is to check with the embassy.

  2. depend if your goung aug. 23-26 2009 or 2008 if it 2008 there no problem unless it expired jan 2008 then u must renew   if it 2009  no you need to renew it

  3. Whitty is correct. You should have 6 months or more remaining in your passport on the date you arrive HKG.

Your passport expires 19 Jan 09, you're arriving HKG 23 Aug 08. This means you have less than 6 months til your passport's expiry date.

If either the immigration officer at the country of embarkation or disembarkation notices it, you can most probably bet that the trip is off.

I bet there's still enough time to renew your passport. It takes 1 day to get a new passport in my country. You better visit your country's immigartion office asap.

  4. Officially you should have 6months remaining on your passport. You can hope that no one pays too much attention but there's no guarantee.

  5. If you are traveling in August '08 then you have 5 months left on your passport and no worries.

If you are traveling in August '09 then you need to renew it. There is no no one will notice at the airport. They will notice. You will be stopped. You will not be allowed on the plane.

However, You have plenty of time.  Come December, before it approximately  30 days before expires apply for a renewal. It takes 6-8 weeks. You will have your new passport by the end of February. 7 Months before your trip.

If you meant (and it is a typo) that your passport expired this past January and you are traveling in a few weeks this August... then yea... you are screwed.

  6. \

you are going for 3 day's in august 2008

your passport expires on january 2009 what is your sensible question ?

  7. Actually where are you from? Its depending on your nationality and mostly your passport can be renewed within a day for most first world nations. For many nationals, passport must be at least 6 months on the date of entering, but you must state where you are from in order to get a better answer, or else you will get lots of difference answer.
