Can i study English as a second language,if i have B1/B2 US Visa ?

i would like to visit US , and i want also to study English , but i dont know if this is OK or not !?

  1. No, this is not okay.  I know this because I was in a similar situation last year.  You need to get an F1 visa, a student visa to attend class.  Most colleges and universities will require this anyway.  It is best to not attempt any shortcuts around this, it will only delay and complicate things.  Get the F1 and you can attend class and have an exended stay on your visa vs. a B1/B2 visitor for pleasure visa.  Hope this helps and good luck!


  2. You may attend classes part time, but the studies can only be incidental to the main purpose of your visit as identified by your B1/B2 visa - you may not study full time and you may not attend so called "free schools" - courses that are funded by federal, state, or local taxes.
