Can i substitute s.r flour for plain in a pasta dough

i'm just about to start a batch of fresh pasta dough and have found myself 1 cup short of plain flour can i use s.r flour to make up the amount??

  1. yes you could but try reduce water and add more egg ratio find it from trial and errorr


  2. measure out ur plain flour and use this recipe 100g flour to 1 whole egg to get an accurate recipe  u can use sr flour if it is the minority of the ingredient  

  3. It ought to puff up some that way, which will look interesting!

    I used self-rising flour to make bread and it changed the taste drastically. It makes it taste more like a muffin than like bread.  

  4. You can definitely use plain flour.  That is all I have used and my pasta turns out perfectly.  Enjoy!

  5. yap but minimise your other ingredients,self rising flour contains riboflavin which make the flour rise so lessen your eggs ingredients or ellse your pasta will become mushy.
