  1. It is completely your choice. No counselor can tell you what you have to take. They may however try to keep you out of a class if they feel like you wont do well. However if you are persistent and believe you can do it than they should let you take it. Good Luck

  2. At the high school I went to they technically couldn't deny you enrollment in a class, no matter what. But if there was a waiting list and the counselors were putting people in the class in the order of most qualified, there might not be room. Talk to your counselors and see if there is still room in the AP class(es) you wish to take. If there is, ask what you can do to be considered. Try getting a letter of recomendation from a teacher who believes in you and thinks you can excel if you try. Good luck! AP classes can be difficult!

  3. Your school should have a course catalog or something like that to tell you the prerequisites for AP Classes. If you don't have a course catalog then your guidance counselor will tell you the prerequisites for whatever AP class you want to take. As long as you have fulfilled the prerequisites for the class you can take it. Some AP classes have no prerequisites. And as far as I know, most schools don't require that you have a certain GPA to take AP classes.

  4. it varies from school to school but most of them are the same...yes it is your choice to take an AP and you counselors cant stop you...you had to at least have a D to take an ap...ex english to ap english. but if you are taking an ap class, i highly recomend that you do NOT take ap english...it is a waste of your time, lots of reading and lecturing plus english teachers also say its a waste of time because you are learning the same stuff but you are expected to do alot better and they grade you harder. I DO recomend that you take an ap history or ap science its more hands on in science and its way better. right now im taking ap environmantal science and we are going to make our science wing solar powered as well as do community service at parks like plant trees and gardens...also we are going to do california costal clean up which is fun because you clean up for about 2 hours and then chill at the beach for the rest of the day and ap european history was fun because we acted out some of the things from the text books like the whole debocle with marie antoinette it was fun but also alot of work so be prepared...also if you dont so well in it you have three weeks to switch out of the class

  5. there is usually a grade requirement and if you dont meet it they wont let you in the class

  6. you are most likely allowed to take ap classes. the councelor can probably say no if you dont have the required grades or gpa (usually a B or teacher approval in a previous class of similar subject matter.. and at my school, they say that you need a 3.75 gpa...) but if you get a note and approval from your parent, they really can't stop you.

if you think you can do it, go for it... i would say to be careful with the classes you pick... make sure you have some classes that give less homework, or else it wont matter how smart and dedicated you are, you simply wont have time to do all of the homework. that is never a good thing.

if you do get overwhelmed..... get out, and take easier classes... take things slowly, one at a time..... and good luck!!

  7. if ur teacher signs u up for the class go for it but remember APs are college level classes and its hard to pick yourself up if u fall behind

  8. Ask a faculty, or the one who is in charge of the AP classes. If they refuse, ask them if there is any other way that you can get these classes, lets say asking for a recommendation letter from one of your teachers. Since you want to make a big turn around, not to pressure you, prove to them that you really want to change.

    hope this helps. :)
