I bought a car 3 days ago at a dealership in IN.. Got it home was cleaning it and noticed that the spoke on the rim has a hairline fracture going all the way around the spoke (dangerous especially to a mother of three)... Looking through the paper work to see if i could take it back to be fixed i noticed that the mileage they had written down was off by 3000 miles, i feel i have been lied to and ripped off i want to take it back .. Do I have that right beings they have lied in the paperwork...

  1. Doubt it.   The hairline fracture goes all the way around the spoke; but does it goe thru the spoke?  It may be a crack in the chrome plating(totally cosmetic) and not a safety issue.    As for being off 3000 miles....what is it instead of 75000 miles, it is 78000 miles?  Not a big issue either.  You did see the car before you purchased it.

  2. typically there is no 3 day buyer's remorse....

the 3000 miles may be a difference from when they got the car in the lot to when you purchased it - typically not a 'break the deal' kind of thing...

I would have the wheel looked at by the dealership - they may offer you another one (or it could be a clearcoat chipping kind of thing, since it's all the way around)...

when they are looking at the rim, you can ask about the mileage in passing....but I don't think it would affect the value of the car in a large way or be a 'rip off'

  3. You should have caught the paperwork issues when you signed. As far as being able to take it back...no. There is no 3 day return law. I would recommend taking it and having the wheel inspected. It may need to be replaced or it may simply be a scratch or other imperfection. A single spoke does not usually crack.
