  1. 39 feet long? I don't think so.  However, if your tube holding your rod is only 3 feet long you will probalby be able to take it with you in carry on.  they let people take guitars that are much longer.  Just a different kind of instrument.  Worse comes to worse you will have to put it in checked luggage.  Make sure you have a professional carry tube.
