Can i take a valium to help with antidepressant withdrawals?

the withdrawels from effexor are horrible, my doctor told me to go cold turkey or to start taking lexapro? no way, no more for me,. i was wondering if anyone knew if i could take a valium to help this horrible feelings im having, or would that make it worse

  2. Paula...the valium will help, though I would not take much.  I cannot believe your doctor told you to go cold turkey off the medication.  We never stop a medication like Effexor cold turkey.  I have gone off Effexor and took three months to go off it slowly.  

    The Lexapro would help and the doctor may have though it a good way to go off the Effexor and onto a less potent medication.  The good news is...the withdrawal symptoms do not go on forever.
