  1. Algebra & Geometry are completely different.  I took Algebra 1 in 9th grade and Geometry in 10th and Algebra 2 in 11th.  Maybe they put the 2 algebras together now and give you geometry after that?  Either way is O.K. I guess.  Algebra is more about computing with equations and unknowns (the famous X and Y).  Geometry is all about graphs, shapes and these horrible things called proofs - logical arguments that you have to come up with.  Even if you're Joe Wiz at this stuff, it's best not to skip anything.  I changed schools in the middle of algebra 1.  In the first semester I was getting A's, but in the new school I got F's.  There was some stuff I missed and wasn't able to catch up.  I ended up in summer school, repeating the class.  It was a breeze that I could do in my sleep, but I needed to get the whole thing together without missing anything.  I did the rest of my math as I listed above.  If you want to advance, then take a class in summer school next year, but don't skip anything.  You'll regret it.

  2. You need to take Geometry. It teaches different philosophies than the algebra track. Personally, I sucked at geometry in the beginning but I'm pretty good with algebra, so that class ironed out my geometry skills. But if you can pass the Geometry placements, I guess you'll be fine. I didn't use anything from Geometry in my Algebra II course, but I did use a lot of the ideas that were taught to me in Geometry in other classes and in life. I don't know, you'll have to talk to your counselor about these things.

And how the heck did you get stuck in Geometry at Junior level? I'm a Junior this year and I'm in Trig/Pre-Calc.

Here's the basic math track for most schools:

Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trig/Pre-Calc, Calculus

You need to be advance tracked to reach Calculus.

P.S. You may want to enroll in some English courses.
