  1. You could ask the land lady, but I don't see why not as long as he is drinking soft drinks.

  2. The pub owners or franchise holders can use their discretion here in dear old Blighty, but you should be OK if he doesn't go off on a sugar jag.

  3. There's no law against it, but the pub can have its own rules.  In some of the pubs where I live, a 16 year old would be the oldest person there.

  4. the legal age is 14 if accompanied by a parent or guardian, although the landlord can refuse, he has the right to refuse anyone at any age,

  5. If the establishment only serves beer & wine I understand there isn't an issue (ex: Pool Hall). The other exception is an establishment that serves meals.  Like going to a restaurant (i.e.,Steakhouse) that serves not only beer & wine but cocktails too (all ages welcome).  Don't think it matters in a pub (persay) as long as they serve meals or only beer & wine-no cocktails (sort of a silly catch 22).   Though regardless, it is still at the discression of the owner/manager of an establishment to regard a time inappropriate for under 21 to be in their establishment.

    Good Luck.

  6. Yes, quite legal in the UK to go into a pub at 16, but not to buy or be given alcoholic drinks. I think the minimum age is 12, but if there is an area sectioned off from the "taproom" then it can be much younger.

The landlord or lady can always ask anyone, regardless of age to leave without giving a reason.

  7. You shouldn't take a16 year old to a pub where there is wine and beer, he might get influenced into drinking in such an illegal age. And besides, pubs are for adults not adolescents.

  8. There is no law against this. (I should know because i used to run a pub in Cambridge!)

  9. its not illegeal so it is actually up to the landlady choice, and if he isnt drinking alcoholic drinks, causing problems [[disturbance etc]] the landlady would probably be fine with it

  10. Ofcourse you can,,,i practiclly grew up in my grandparents pup, theres ntn wrng with it, he just needs to behave and you need to set an acceptable exampl for him

  11. why not asked the landlady before you take him. that would be the easiest way to find the answer to your question.

  12. Not sure where you live but here in Canada anything labelled as a lounge, pub, bar or any other venue that its purpose is to be a so called "watering hole" no minors are permitted at all. I know some places they will let children under the drinking age in until a certain time of the night. You will have to check with the pub and I do think that they can ask you to leave. Why would you want to take your 16yr. old son to hang out with you at a pub in the first place???

  13. they  won't let him  in a pub

  14. its perfectly legal, but you need some kind of proof that he is your son, however I am in TeXas, I dont know if the same law applies in your state... maybe you can reask the question and say what state your in

  15. I first hit the pubs at 15, was a mature 15 yr old and my dad would take me in at an EVEN younger age. I no longer drink alcohol so the experience had a positive affect on me.

Firstly, most landlords reserve rights to refuse anyone, any age, for any reason. That’s what make them the landlord - it’s their business.  Considering there'll be relations who work there, I don’t see why you’d have a problem (providing he behaves himself and acts responsibly). A lot of adults go to the pub to get away from adolescents.

You remarked he’s not drinking but bit of trivia, (this is where the law gets stupid and hazy), Although it’s illegal to buy alcohol on behalf of anyone under 18 for consumption on the premises: If the pub serves food, your son can actually get away with drinking purchased alcohol, providing it is accompanied by a meal.

  16. Yes he is allowed to be there but not to drink alcohol which you obviously know already. If the landlady is anything like our local one they don't seem to mind, in fact, we've stopped going to our local as it's turned into a bit of a youth club recently!

  17. It all depends on the individual venue, some have a licence to allow under 18's others don't. You would have to ask the Landlord/Landlady. I know this because our 17yr old decided to follow us to the pub one night (because she missed us aaah!lol) and was asked to leave immediately because the license didn't permit her to be in after 8pm. Yet she has paid us a visit in one of the bars across the street another time and was allowed in as they had  different licencing rules.

  18. thats awful - WHAT are you THINKING?
