Can i take perscription off of glasses?

ifound a pair of cute sunglasses at an antique shop but they are perscripton is there any way ican take the perscription off but leave the tint on?

  1. Take them to an opticians and tell them you want the glasses 'reglazed' you will need to get a prescription from your optician for plano lenses if you want non prescription lenses in the glasses, as it is illegla to dispense any type of lens without a written prescription as even a plano (non prescription) lens is classed as an opthalmic lens. It might also not be possible to put new lenses in as it may weaken or break the frame if it is antique.


  2. Luna is confused...you don't need a prescription for plano lenses.

  3. No, the prescription is built into the lens itself.  You could however go to a dispensary to see if they will remove the lenses for you and put new lenses in with the same tint, of course at a cost.

  4. You would need to have the lenses replaced.  The prescription can't be removed.  You may want to take them to a local optician to see if they can replace the lenses for you.
