  1. Just set your home theater to 5 (or 7) channel stereo - and you are in business.

  2. With your type of speaker system, probably not, unless it says somewhere that there is a pro logic or pro logic 2 decoder. You would most likely need to get a receiver and hook speakers up to it then connect some a/v cables from your satellite or cable tv set top box to the receiver and select a pro logic sound setting to get surround sound.

Bottom line though, home theater in a box systems where the amp is built-in to the subwoofer will only give you full surround sound when you plug the 6 analog cables from a dvd player that has that kind of connection.

  3. Yes if you have a home theater receiver that has either Dolby Prologic or Dolby Prologic ll

Change the listen mode from Dolby Digital to either one of the Dolby Prologics and it will convert your stereo  sound to surround sound.

  4. With your setup, you're not likely to be able to change from a stereo signal to a surround signal at all.  Even if you did, it would be most likely that everything would collapse into the center channel and sound worse that it does over 2 channel stereo.

  5. On your home stereo monitor, there should be sound settings. You may need to turn on the 5.1 Surround Sound option or 7.1 or whatever your set-up is. My Sony monitor let's me choose whether I want only the front two, or all five or any combination so you may just have to fool around with the speaker settings for a bit
