  1. OK - most employers require a degree - but your cert MAY be as good - it depends -  how long was the TESOL course? some people get them on a weekend course - so that kinda depends.  The usual deal is if you meet their requirements they will pay return flights for you - not a spouse - unless she is teaching too (They love qualified couples to come). Free accomodation is standard - including bills (water electricity gas internet). its usually pretty good - my current apartment in Ningbo kicks ***     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uEUqG-g5...

So thats the story. - Meeting their requirements they generally take pretty good care of you (as always there are bad employers here also - but thats another story).  However you may or may not.  No degree is bad. Cert is good but it kinda depends. non teaching wife is ok, but they wont pay her flights or visa.  Some colleges throw in free meals - again not for her.

I know a school that prob would welcome you - one thing in your favour is shortage of teachers this year - contact me if you wanna know more

  2. To become a teacher in a foreign country. you do need a degree. It doesnt matter what you majored in but you do need a degree. The schools usually will provide basic accomadations for you... but i dont know if they are willing to provide it to your wife. you are going to have to contact the school about that.

  3. Of course you can. Just not at the momentos of Olympics. Give it a month or two then it will be back to normal-that means YES.

  4. I think they like teachers who has a degree. But if your oral English is really good enough they may employ you.

Normally, if you teach in China they provide the house for you. The visa is not easy to get at the moment because of the Olympic Games, however, you can apply for it after the games.

The flights are usually afforded by yourself.

  5. Yes, you can teach.  My ranking:

    1.  Bachelors Degree and EXP

    2.  Bachelors and no EXP

    3.  College Degree plus EXP

    4.  College Degree plus TEFL/TESOL

    5.  No degree, but TEFL/TESOL

    6.  No degree, no cert, but EXP

    7.  None of the above, but native English speaker (the whiter the better)

    8.  None of the above, but has English as a second language (i.e. Filipina)

To be honest, your wife is gonna have a helluva time getting a visa.  I understand now they can only get 5 days.  China is VERY tough on them.

Personally, since you have no degree, not much EXP and a filipina wife, I would look at Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, etc. since their visa rules might not be as strict for your wife and since you really don't have a lot to offer a school that would make them push hard to get you 2 visas.
