I have Vonage phone service and live in NW Indiana. I heard that it is possible for me to "call from a different area code" so to speak. I heard that i can make it look like i am calling from anywhere that i want, is that true? if so how?

if i cant do this, or it has nothing to do with Vonage, is there any online service that can help me with this. I want to make it look as though i am calling from the 907 area code, whether than my current area code of 219.

thank you.

  1. With Vonage, your outbound callerID (what other people see when you call them) will always be your primary number, even if you have a bunch of extra numbers assigned to it too.

There are websites and services that you can use to put up any callerID you want, even if its not yours.  Some are free, most cost.  I'll let you research this one.

There are also ways to set your own callerID, but most of these are at business level accounts from your phone provider and often require equipment as well.

If your wanting to do it with one or two calls for fun, I suggest going the website route.  If you want to make a permanent change, you need to call your phone provider (vonage in your case) and ask them to change your primary number, or get a second line (not another number that rides on your main line, but a second line) and use your main line for your 219 calls and your second line for when you want to show your 907 area code.
