Can i transfer a program from my old pc to my new laptop via disc or email attachment?

i have ares ultra,photoshop,tune up utilities etc..can i transfer any of this software to my laptop by disc or email and if so how do i do it?

  1. Yes, You can transfer it by using via disc.


  2. Most programs have to be installed on a computer.  You can't just copy files and expect the program to work due to registry entries that get added during the install process.

  3. If you just want to transfer files, then just get a large flash drive, or better yet an external usb hard drive, copy the files to the flash drive and then from the flash drive to the new computer.

    However, programs are different because they usually have dll files that are installed in your Windows system directory, so if you copy the programs over without the dependent dll files then they won't work.

    There's a program called LapLink that will figure out the dependencies and will copy over programs from one drive to another. Worth checking out for what you're trying to do.
