  1. Yes you can.. but the airline will need to be notified as you will be considered an unaccompied minor. You have to pay an extra fee to the airline as well, and they will want to know who is dropping your off and picking you up.

  2. No,  you don't need a letter, or extra money. As long as your ticket is payed and you have a guardian to escort you onto the plane it should be fine.

  3. You will need a few things.  First, it doesn't matter who old you look. The birth date date on your passport is what matters.  You would still be an unaccompanied minor, so check out each airline for their policy.

Depending on the airline, you may have to pay extra for being an unaccompanied minor, especially since it is an overseas flight.  Some airlines have a cut off at 13 and others are a little older.  What happens is the airline notifies the flight crew and you will have an escort in the airports - especially if there is a transfer. For younger children, like 5, the child must fly first class and they never leave the custody of the airline.

You will need a letter, which I believe needs to be certified (go to the Department of State's web page for details) saying that your legal guardian is allowing you to leave the country for a specific time and that in the Dominican Republic you can board the plane to go back home.

Minors crossing international borders has become very regulated and there are international treaties.  The airlines have adopted very stringent controls so they do not 1) assist in a criminal action and 2) get sued by a parent.  Basically, if the legal guardian (or both parents/ guardians if the court hasn't awarded custody to one person) is not flying with the child - for whatever reason- than there has to be documentation and paperwork for the children to fly - even to return home to their place of citizenship.

  4. of course you can travel by you self at fourteen they have stewertist my nephew is 10 years old and he flew all the way from california to chicago by himself .all you have to pay for is your plane tickets seats and probably food there selling on the plane.

  5. As long as the ticket is paid for(by whoever) and has your name on it, you should be good to go.  You might need a passport though and picture ID.
