I have never travelled before and am yet to get my passport. I was reading on the virgin blue website that all id need is some photo id (drivers license or passport) and my itinerary? So does that mean i could just use my photo ID instead of a passport?

  1. Any form of photo id is fine they would be just some examples of what you could use as ID. You don't require a passport for domestic travel.

  2. Im not sure, I would rather be safe than sorry and bring it. There always changing the rules these days

  3. You need a pssport if you're leaving the country. Photo ID would only need be your driver's license or student ID card.

  4. yes you can you would need some id like your drivers licence for proof of id

  5. yes so a drivers license is fine or any other photo id. As your not traveling overseas you don't need your passport. i flew to brissy a couple of weeks ago and just used my license

  6. Yes, you can use your photo ID. You need a passport if you fly international out of the country.

here is a link to read regarding flying within the country if you are an Australia citizen.

  7. "all id need is some photo id (drivers license or passport) and my itinerary?" This, from, your own question, seems to cover it.

My 13 year old flies Virgin alone often.  She does not have a driver's licence (obviously) but we have used her school identity card that has a photo when she checks in.  Once she did not have that, but they accepted a Medicare card.  When things get really bad I believe they will let you on if you can produce a printed copy of your itinerary.  Qantas are less strict (although there I just produce my Qantas Club card)
