Can i travel from uk2usa for 6months on an extended visitor visa instead of the standard visa waiver 3 months?

As a British Citizen, i am entitled to visit the USA for up to 3 months using the standard Visa Waiver program. However i have been offered to stay with my friend in the USA for 6 months as an extended break. Am i entitled to do this? And how would i go about this?

no, you may not go without a visa for 6 months, you will have to address yourself to the consulate to ask for a 6 months visa go to the consulate on line to get one.
