  1. You need proper identification to board any flight. You only need a passport when flying to another country. So you'd need a passport only if your were traveling out of the country. Otherwise, a drivers license or state issued ID card would suffice.

  2. I went by ferry and mine wasn't checked but if your flying then definately you'll need one and I think security at the ports has been upped so I wouldn't advise trying it.

  3. no, travelling country to country always requires a passport!

  4. Only if you have the official French 'carte d'identite'. But I would advise contacting the Irish Embassy in France to make sure.

  5. The simple, one word answer - NO.

There are no exceptions - ignore comments about ferry checks, etc. You cannot travel without a passport.

  6. hi you

if your not an Irish or UK citizen no you cant you will need a passport

  7. In this instance you will.

However, travelling between various European countries that have signed the Schengen Agreement only requires national ID, that can be a passport, driver's license opr various other forms of identification. Furthermore, many boarder controls are being actively brought down so as to make the flow of traffic even smoother and no ID is asked for.

Ireland and the UK have not signed the Schengen Agreement, but passing between these two and mainland Europe is relatively hassel free for the vast majority of people.

If you go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_Ag... you can further find out about this.

  8. You will need a passoport if travelling to Ireland from any country other than the UK.  Visitors from the UK only require a photo ID (like a driver's license or other officially issued ID).
