  1. No you can't do that. The only people that could do that were the British. And the Irish government, including our own government, stopped all that to prevent terrorism.

You now need to use your passport.

  2. no, because we have an agreement with britan so travel within the british isles does not require passport they will not allow us have the same agreemnet with the rest of europe

  3. no you can't.. they do passport checks in the airport and if you don't have a passport you won't be able to leave ireland let along step foot into france.

  4. Of course you can. Get the ferry to Dover. There are no passport checks coming into England here. I have come this way dozens of times. Asylum seekers come this way daily. Its free entry. Get ferry to Dublin from Wales. No passport checks here. Its only a problem leaving Uk.

  5. No you must have a passport

  6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_tr... , this link will explain all, basically the U.K. and Ireland are excluded from the Schengen Treaty area ( countries that you can travel between without a passport), so the answer to your question is NO.

  7. If you are from a country that belongs to the EU and you have a document such such as an ID that is not the passport you shpuld be fine.

I have travelled around Europe with my spanish DNI (ID) with no passport at all many times without an incident.

I believe that you can also do it with an Europena driving license because it contains your data and your national ID number.

  8. I believe the French 'carte d'identite' is enough for French citizens travelling to Ireland, but please verify this at the Irish Embassy or Consulate in France BEFORE  you travel!

  9. No you will need a passport.

  10. Unfortunately, you omit the one most crucial piece of information, which is your nationality.  If you are French (or from NL, D, BEL, or LUX), then you theoretically may enter using only a valid national identity card, though most travel companies advise you carry a passport.  All other nationalities entering from france require a passport (including UK citizens as they are not entering direct from the UK).  What does a passport check 'look like'??? It looks like someone sitting at a desk at the point of entry checking passports....
