  1. If you're in bad financial shape, you might want to do what I did and look at your college library to see if they have the same textbooks there.

I did that for a couple books and it worked like a charm.  Most people don't bother with putting a hold on a book, so I kept most of them all semester.  When I had to give them back (too many renewals), I just copied the final pages we needed for class.

  2. Ive gotten books and other things from there.  Its not a scam, just look at the sellers feedback score.  If they have a low score, then dont buy from that person.

  3. it is not a scam, unlike some other websites. i have bought many books and electronics from Amazon , not all of them in the best shape, but you want to read the material inside not the cover. make sure you read the description correctly, there are many different editions of the same book and many different ISBN .

i have also sold a few books on Amazon. its the best way to get cash and also save some!

  4. I have used amazon in the past and have saved tons of cash, however here are some tips:

1- Make sure you are getting the right book! Sometimes book co's put out new editions (too often, if you ask me) and it's easy to order an older publication.

2- Check to make sure you're ordering a 'used' copy if you want to save cash. Sometimes, newer books will be available for a higher cost. Check out every option before you buy.

3- Try to order from a person/seller that is near you. This equals a faster ship time

4- MOST IMPORTANT! Be sure that you know an approximate shipping/arrival time. I have had friends wait until the last minute to order from Amazon and they ended up without a book majority of the quarter because orders were backed, or the company wasn't reputable and lolly gagged around when it came time to send. Always check your seller's reputation and history. Just make sure you'll get the book within the first-second week of school!
