Can i turn a stadard definition tv in to a high definition tv?

hey i have a panasonis viera flat screen tv, when i brought it they sold me a set to box with it which was ment to give me high def tv! iv since elarnt that it doesn and they wont do anything about it! can i some how change it into a high def tv? please help! thanks

  1. The set top box was probably for digital tv not high definition tv, try it anyway digital tv with a good signal can look excellant.

    Sorry if you thought it was for high definition tv you need Sky or virgin media or a similar service for that, or wait until free high definition channels start in a few years.


  2. HDTVs are either HD-ready (no tuner but able to handle HD resolutions) or Integrated-HD sets, which include a digital tuner.

    It sounds like you have an HD-ready set.

    I'd suggest that you Google the model number of your TV and check if it has an HD tuner. I was under the impression that all of the Viera sets have an HD tuner. Look at the specifications for the terms ATSC, and QAM. These are the tuner types for antenna and cable TV respectively.

    You also need to have either an antenna, or subscribe to the HD service level of a cable or satellite package to receive HD channels.

  3. no its built into the tv and i dont think you can alter it it would be cheaper to buy a new tv
