  1. Cars from that era used leaded gasoline to lubricate the valves. I'd be more concerned about that.

    87 octane will work in any car that has a low or normal compression engine. If yours is high compression then the car will "ping" when you accelerate and diesel (keep running) after you turn off the key. Try 87 octane and if it doesn't do those things, then you can use it every day.

    High octane gas is expensive and uses hazardous chemicals which damage the environment (like hydroflouric acid).

    Don't waste your money if you don't have to.


  2. Yes but you'll still need to add the lead fuel additive.

  3. back then they used leaded gas. you can use the gas today if you change the heads and set the timing. just put on newer heads that uses the unleaded gas. i had a 44 ford truck once and it took leaded gas, so i put 79 heads on it.
