Can i use a 4870 in a pci express x16 slot?

yes the 4870 will work in either a pci express x16 or a pci express x16 2.0 if you put it in a 2.0 slot it will  be faster. You cannot however, put it in a regualr pci slot or a pci express x1 slot.

always build your own computer, never buy prebuilts.

pci-e x16 , pci-e 1.0, and pci-e 2.0 are almost basically the same thing, they all work with each other
