  1. no u shouldnt be using kids crest or colgate just because of the fact that they swallow it.

they make a toddler toothpaste, its in a box with either thomas the train on it or little bear....u should use that until they are 3 and a half-ish then start teaching them to spit it out, when they have mastered that, at around 4, then switch to crest kids

  2. Buy the training toothpaste if she won't spit out the paste.

  3. There toothpaste at walmart for toddler that has no fluoride in it. It called training toothpaste. They have little bear and thomas the train on the box.

  4. Use the toothpaste that is the Little Bear brand. It is clear and contains no flouride. It is the act of brushing and not the toothpaste that is good for your teeth. Also flossing. They make little flossers for kids.

  5. thanks for asking this!! I was looking at the store yesterday and I just ended up buying this training toothpaste with thomas the train on the box from walmart, I'm going to use this b/c my son wants to swallow the children's toothpaste he wont spit it...  but thanks!!  :)

  6. if you go to wal mart or target they have tothpaste especially designed for toddlers that age my son is almost two and he uses it all the time its totally safe to swallow

  7. They sell a training toothpaste that has no fluoride for kids that can't spit yet. We have used it for our son, and we are going to buy it for our 1 y/o. She's just been using her toothbrush.

  8. Small Amounts of Floride are ok. ACtually good for a Child's teeth. If it childrens toothpaste I would think it would be. I would not give them more then a little a drop. I woldnt put on as much as an adult does.

Its probably best to stick to the infant and toddler toothpast from gerber that they can swallow. But if you must....I think a small amount is not bad at all.

  9. actually, you should be using fluoride toothpaste on her by now so she doesn't get dental caries (cavities).  The first time I brushed my 2 yr old's teeth with fluoride I had her in the bathtub (and did it right before she got out), when she got any build up of fluid in her mouth I had her spit it out.  I kept telling her that she cant swallow it because its yucky and she thought it was fun to spit. It is hard to teach them to spit when you use the non fluoride kind because they have swallowed that in the past, so they don't understand why all the sudden they have to spit it out.  I recommend teaching them to spit with fluoride kind, and if its not going so well (meaning she keeps swallowing) wait a month or so and try again.
