my 6 month old son is very active and when in his normal cot, gets caught up in the bars (despite being in a gro-bag), bangs his head and wakes up crying when he gets stuck. we tried him in our travel cot and it was great. he can move freely, theres no hard bars to hurt him and we dont have to worry about him burying his head in a bumper cos he can breathe freely thru the mesh. anyone know if its ok to let him sleep in there every night until he is big enough to put in a cotbed or are there hidden dangers.

  1. i did for almost the whole first year until i finally moved my daughter to her crib and we had no problems with it. seems just as safe as a crib to me, only safer as you said cuz you dont have to worry about the bars. we just had an extra padding made to put down on the bottom so it would feel more like a mattress without having to use extra blankets...

  2. Why not , they seem a better design than the normal cot , apart from the bending down to pick him up , or the fear of a draft , why not

  3. I'm sure he would be fine :)

my friends little sister was in a moses basket, then straight into the travel cot, and she stayed in it until she was about 3, and ready for a little bed.

i would invest in a proper mattress for it though (i think you can get them from most baby stores) they make them for travel cot size, this would just give him a little more support :)

it would definately be better for him, in the way that he wont hurt himself. xx

  4. My sister used one until my niece was 18 months old.  She was climbing out of it by 12 months.

  5. yes its perfectly ok, my son is 15 months today and has been sleeping in his travell cot since he was about 5-6 months,in the normal cot he used to bang against the rails and it would wake him up,plus the bumper you put around the cot are not recommended for young babies as they can get caught up in them and suffocate. my son sleeps soundly now and has room to move,im very happy with it and wish i had done the same with my first as he hated the cot and slept in our bed till he was 3,if i had of thought of the travell cot i would have let him sleep in it too!! good luck and if babys happy and sleeps then i think its great!! i also have a very padded blanket wrapped around the base of it so hes comfortable and supported, the blanket cannot move either so find something like that or a mattress to fitxx

  6. My first child slept in a travel cot every night night for the first 2 years and  I never had any problems.

  7. I really don't see any major problems with it, especially if it is safer for him. My only concern would be that there is very little support on the bottom. I would try to find a slightly thicker (yet firm) mat that you could place on the bottom to provide a little more support. Good luck!
