Can i use a traxxas xl-1 speed control on a titan 12 turn electric motor?

i have an old traxxas rustler and the manual rotary speed control is broken but i wanted to go with something faster, but no too expensive.Will this speed control be faster or slower that the manual rotary speed control? what kind of motor can be connected to the xl-1? is it a good speed control in the fist place? ids it old? will it even fit in the old rustler? i have so many questions about it and need an expert very badly!

The 12 turn Titan motor is too much for the XL-1.    It will blow it and all the magic smoke will come out.      The XL-1 will handle the Traxxas Stinger 20 turn, or and 27 turn stock motor, but nothing really any hotter.  

  If you get a XL-5, it will handle the 12 turn just fine.
