  1. Adult flea shampoos usually can't be used for kittens. Most bottles/brands strongly suggest for a pet owner to not use an adult brand. The poisons are too strong for kittens. Be sure to read the bottle carefully, it should say how old and the weight of the cats their product works for. Good luck.

  2. Shampoos arent' so good... but some have suggested dawn dishwashing soap.

Hold his front legs with your left hand... have both sinks full of warm to the touch water. plenty of towels to dry with..... submerse him to the neck.  then put on the soap , rub it around EVERYWHERE but the face.  then dunk him again in the water... then take over to the 2nd sink full of water and then rince.  dry and then take a flea comb and comb him... when you find a flea put it in some soap or alchohol.

IF YOUR HOUSE / cat HAS FLEAS….

I have a NATURAL remedy for getting rid of fleas in your house.

Go to the Store and buy some 20 Mule Team BORAX.

Then sprinkle it all over. Carpets, couch, bedding, pillows, pet beds, car, even wood floors. (NOT ON YOUR PET!)

    THEN VACCUME IT UP.

What Boax does is coats the eggs ... The eggs hatch deformed or unable to reproduce.

You will have to do this 2 or 3x about a week apart in order to get all the egg cycles.

FOR YOUR PET. Use the flea killer that is on the market or use a flea comb (this is also a head lice comb) especially for kittens or puppys who are too young to have insecticide put on them.

Kill the fleas that you find on the comb with soap or alcohol

  3. Generally I'd say as long as the packet  doesn't say no, OCH, just go for it but dilute a lot. But, if he's been allergic to frontline (are you on stronghold now?) then I'd possibly be careful.

Very diluted baby shampoo is often suggested and, ahem, I used my very expensive hypoallergenic face wash on my kitten at 3 months in an emergency when I hadn't gotten around to buying cat shampoo and he very happily lived to tell the tale!  Don't tell the critical cat answerers that tho' ;o)

You could try a teensy tiny diluted bit on his paw tomorrow morning and monitor him for they day to see how he is knowing the vet's on call in office hours if the absolute absolute worst happens (and I doubt it will... harbingers of doom some people are).

  4. I would not , kittens are more sensitive and their skin is different than ours. Therefore, don't try using the adult shampoo or human soaps and hair products. Bring him or her to your local pet groomer or pet spa and have him or her flea dipped. It really helps and you don't have to bother trying to clean them while flea infested. Good Luck!

  5. Read the bottle it probably says do not use for cats under XX pounds.

  6. no no no no no! don t use it.dont dilute it either. i learned the hard way and lost 4 of 5 kittens. use dawn dishsoap.one of the other answers said use dawn also, but they didnt specify that you need to leave it on the kitty for 8-10 minutes . get kitty wet then lather up and wrap in towel and hold close for 8-10 mins THEN rinse off and comb out rest of fleas.remember kittens cant regulate their own body temp completely until approx. 20 weeks so do all this in a non-drafty ,non -ac area. good luck! dawn really works great..
