  1. It will work just fine. You may have limitiations on what resolution you can drive it at. Are you sure your computer has an HDMI port, few do at this time!

    Astrobuf

  2. A TV set can be used as a computer monitor if the set supports the display resolution produced by the computer, or the computer video card can produce a standard TV resolution.

However, TV sets are generally optimized for TV use and computer monitors for computer display. So the picture may not be as good as you had hoped. The arrangement of the pixels on the screen can be different depending on the intended use. Many modern TVs do support a variety of input resolutions, particularly with RGB or HDMI inputs. Many modern video cards can produce standard TV formats.

You'll need to review the specs and capabilities of each device to see if they will work well together.

  3. Only if the video card in your computer will support it.

  4. If you have the right graphics card you can use the TV as a monitor with a HDMI To DVI cable

If you don't have a graphics card with HDMI out:

    A. You can use a Xbox 360 or PS3 and use programs like windows media center or other free apps like connect 360 (for mac). With a wireless card and a router you can stream wirelessly from your computer this way (on both Mac and PC)

    B. Get a graphics card with HDMI out like this:

And set screen options in displays to Mirrored or Extended Display.
