Can i use an american express gift card on any website?

i want to buy clothes urban outfitters and a british store called topshop. will it work on them? and what's the most amount of money i can put on a gift card?

You can use an American Express gift card on any website that allows American Express credit cards as a form of payment. I got one for Christmas one year and it was fine when I first used it, but after that, every place asked the remaining balance. Apparently you need to know how much is left because vendors need to type in the amount being charged and cannot exceed the amount on the AmEx card. If you use it on a website, then you wont have as many issue as using it in stores.

I don't know what the limit is on these cards, but there may not be one. You could probably but a few hundred dollars on one gift card. Some are preloaded with set amounts, but most are not. It's usually in a $5 increase.
