  1. If you are happy with the way your your sound system works and are able to reconnect new speakers to it, there is no reason you have to purchase a whole new system, but just buy new speakers .

Make sure your system can power your speakers correctly,

that is will not under or over power your speakers.

One other suggestion is before purchasing your new speakers what there return policy is,

let's say you get your new speakers at home and they don't sound as good as you hoped they would, can you return them for another set of speakers or return them for your money back.

    Good luck and good hunting.

  2. The receiver (amp that you plug the ps3 into) has 6 speaker channels, and one sub channel (6.1).  If your making it surround sound I suggest buying a few sets of IDENTICAL speakers so they all get powered equally.  You can plug whichever speakers you want into it, and it will work- but may not sound particularly good.  Make sure that you have the receiver wired properly.  If you need more help with it, look at www.crutchfield.com

    ps3's are fun.

  3. Yes you can, just watch for resistance, like both your old and new speakers must be 8 Om and your new speakers must have enough power (i guess at least 100W) so your amplifier won't blow them.
