Can i use car speakers for my in home stereo?

i have some home equipment and a few car speakers, and woofers (even some modified car alarms) and i was wondering if i can hook them up together? without blowing a fuse or lighting the speakers on fire that is. anyone know anything about electronic?

well car speakers run on 4 Ohms and most audio home equipment runs 8ohms.......   if you hit some pawn shops and garage sales or even second hand stores you can get a 1970's home reciver like a old kenwood that has a 4ohm/8ohm switch that will run your car speakers without damaging the equipment

check on old fisher... pioneer or even Scott or Sony units from around the 1970s or so for 4ohm compatibility
