I am completley re-doing my old becker bookshelf type home stereo system and it is the kind where it has the subwoofer, mid range, and tweeter 3 totally seperate units. So i was trying to look around for a good tweeter and was wondering if i could use a car 1" or 2" tweeter?

  1. Here is what I learned......Home current is AC, car current is DC.  I wanted to do the same thing and a geek type told me that using car audio on a home system will ruin the home components....and eat up the speakers

I gotta tell you I do not have a clue but it does make sense about  power and ohms and such.  I'd just check with  a good audio store

  2. yes you can run a car tweeter in a home. all speakers were created equally. its difficult to run a car amp in a house, but speakers will play anything that they are told to play (or die trying).

I've personally used ome equipment to easily and quickly test out speakers to make sure they work before installing them in my car so I know first hand its safe, and i've seen several car subwoofers setup inside homes. since speaker are accepting power and not creating it everything is fine
