  1. You would be better off using it as a compost. Cut grass is a great for compost and then use your compost as a fertilizer.

  2. If you have a mulching mower you can but cut grass is only going to kill off any grass under it.  Try putting in into compost then you can use it as fertilizer.

  3. i don't know for sure but i would think you could. also spread it across dead grass spots in yard and water. You will have grass in the spot you put it in.

  4. Yes, but you have to let it mulch a while first.  Pile it up with other yard waste and vegetable waste until it starts breaking down.  You can make a compost pile and pull fertilizer from the bottom.

  5. Mulching mowers are designed to return the clippings to the soil to recycle.  Now if the grass is lacking fertilizer, new growth, or green color, you can pretty much bet that the clippings won't have a very high "nutrient value".  So, with that being said, it won't replace the need to apply some nitrogen rich fertilizer every so often (spring and fall at least).

The only way mulching can be bad for your grass is if you haven't mowed it in weeks.  Obviously, you will have too many clippings to be evenly dispersed and the "piling up " and wettin  of these clippings will suffocate your grass.

If you maintain your grass with weekly mowing, then you can and should opt to "mulch" while you mow (if it's an option on your mower)

Otherwise, grass clippings can be mixed with dry leaves, etc, moistened, and mixed to create great compost in about 30 days (if in direct sun).  You could always reapply this compost back on to your lawn to REALLY improve soil and turf conditions.

    Good Luck

  6. Dead, decaying organic matter is all thatch is--and thatch is cut grass. So the answer is "no".

  7. if you mulch the grass as you cut it and the grass is dry that is fertilizer
