i was hoping duct tape along with filling the cracks with super glue would do the true. the cracks are minor but i would not like if the board became water lodged. should i replace duct tape regularly? *crack on top nose and bottom*

  1. Don't bother with the Duct Tape - it leaks anyway, and worse, the gummy part of the tape makes sanding the area later much more difficult.  Use the sun-cure as the first guy said, but let the board and wet foam  dry first.

  2. Duct tape is water permeable.  If you are absolutely in a pinch use a sticker.  I hate to admit but I have several boards with sticker patches, and I can actually do ding repair..I'm just lazy.

  3. Dude yeah totally, but if your looking for another quick fix putting a **** load of wax could help also but again only temporarily, make sure you get cold water if the waters cold and warm water if its warm!

  4. If I were you, I'd look into getting a new board as soon as possible. But if u don't feel like it, don't have time, or just don't want to, duct tape might hold it for a while.

  5. really for short periods its better than nothing. i dinged the end of my long board the day before a school contest and used duct tape for the day. if you wax the edge of the duct tape it keeps it flatter to your board and lets in a little less water.

  6. ok, you should buy sun cure, super glue will NOT DO IT!

  7. Duct tape can fix anything but if you want to use something better then I would go w/plumbers tape.  Much better than duct tape but you're best bet is to take it in and get her fixed.  Water in your board will only make things worse.

  8. In a pinch, you can fix anything with duct tape. You wouldn't believe the things that I have fixed with duct tape in my lifetime. But it's not the best idea for ding repair.Like Kim_Dude said, a sticker makes a better temporary patch. And, don't jam waax in a ding. It will keep water out, in a pinch, but will be a pain inthe a$$ to clean out competely to properly fix the ding. But if you are at the beach and get a ding, and the waves are great, you do what you have to do to try to make the ding water tight, and keep your session going.

DON'T use superglue on a surfboard. If you really want to fix it yourself, go buy some suncure or solarez in any surf shop, and follow the instructions EXACTLY.

If it is a pretty big ding or crack, your best bet is to take it to the local surf shop and pay to have their ding man fix it, the right way. I have been surfing since '66, and I have fixed lots of little dings, but I have always taken the big ones to the shop. It is only the smart thing to do if you want to get the longest possible life out of your board. Good luck!

  9. Fix the ding correctly with resin and fiberglass (unless its epoxy) otherwise you are going to reck your board.
