  1. if your doing the nitrogen cycle i would wait because the nitrite will lower and nitrate will be higher and nitrate is harmless to fish.


  2. don't pollute the tank with more chemicals.  Let the cycle run it's course.  You will find, eventually, that chemicals make problems worse, not better.

  3. no you don't use chemicals to lower nitrate and the nitrite level will drop on it's own once the tank has cycled you didn't mention ammonia level but I am guessing it is also up there some once the tank finishes cycling the ammonia and nitrite levels will go to zero the nitrate level is controled by doing partial water changes not by adding chemicals

    if you have fish in the tank you may need to do partial water changes in order to keep ammonia and nitrite levels down at safe levels for the fish
