Can i use fiberglass resin on carbon fiber fabric?

  1. You should use epoxy resin with carbon fiber. Vinylester resin can also be used. It is 1/2 the cost and nearly as strong as epoxy. Normal polyester resin is  too brittle for use with carbon fiber.


  2. Only if you lay up extra matting, which defeats the purpose of saving on weight.

  3. Short answer No and I wouldn't use vinylester either. Epoxy and a high quality epoxy at that, such as an ampreg 320, vaccum bagged and baked at about 50oC for a day. If you are going to the expense of using Carbon fiber why cut corners and quality by using an inferior resin.

    Carbon composite construction are high in costs because of the work load and the qualities of the materials involved.
