I just got home from the hospital last night and i already spent $50 just in case you were wondering...I already bought diapers, milk, and that thing were you put around their neck so milk/food wont go on thier cloths etc. When my kids are growing up I will probably spend no less than $100 a week. Can I fully take care of my kids and still stay in the family budget?

  1. This is a really bad time to be just wondering about these things, however to really factor the cost of having a child you have to add a portion of housing, utilities, car, insurance, gas, ect.  I seriously doubt $100.00 is a realistic number from that standpoint.

Some weeks it will be far less, some way more but if you set a hard number you won't go over then you will wind up making everyone miserable. What would you deny your child? Food? Milk? Heat?  Keep all your other expenditures in line and set aside an amount for all the necessary items for the baby. You will then know how much discretionary funding you will have at each week or months end based upon your income. If you see you will fall far short, look into public aid to keep your child safe, happy and healthy

You also need to learn what all the things for a baby are, call your local city or county aid office for information about classes to teach you the things you don't know. In my state this is called WIC, this stands for Women, Infants and Children. It provides parenting classes as well as food and doctors care for mothers with children under 14.

    Good luck.

  2. baby food and diapers are EXPENSIVE as you might know. It will get better when they are toddlers but when they are school aged it will get mroe expensive. you will need food school suplies, they will want clothes, bithday parties, money for the movies with froends and such. plus insurance and basics.

  3. thats kids for you! See if you can get any child credits.

congratulations with your new baby - what did you call her/him.
