  1. You can use it on Tubes, the DLR, buses and trains.

Depending if if it is an Oyster card with at least a week long travel card or longer on, or just prepay, you may or may not be able to use it on.

If you have a week long travel card on it (or longer) then it is valid for travel on all National Rail routes within the zones that you have paid for. If it is only prepay, then there are some National Rail routes that it is valid on and some that it cannot be used on.

In short, it may be valid on all, or just some National Rail routes, depending on what kind of Oyster card it is.

  2. Absolutely!

  3. It can be used on the Tube, trams, buses, DLR, London Overground and some National Rail services in London.

  4. Oyster cards are not acceptable on most overland rail services and are not a part of TFL schemes, however, if you have paid for a daily travelcard with your Oyster Card, then there is no problem, however the inspector will still read your card with their portable scanner to check that the card has been touched and the amount on your card is correct.  You must also be within the Travelcard area of London as well, if caught even one stop outside then you will be charged the fare peak single to the next stop / destination without any discounts and then have to pay another single to return, or given a Penalty Fare dependant on who catches you.

  5. Not on over ground.

  6. Correct you can use it and put a travel card on it. Not all the stations accept pay as you go though so best to buy it at your start station than to assume it will auto deduct
