Can i use my dish dvr to record survelence camera feeds?

i know you can buy DVR's for cameras but i was wondering if i could piggy back with my dish dvr to record camera streams from a survelence camera

  1. DVRs for cable/satellite/broadcast are not designed for security use. They limit the length of time you can record and do not have archiving features that security DVRs do.

    Security DVRs have no time limit for video. They are able to capture around 4 camera feeds unlike a personal DVR that could only record 1 (dual tuner does not work for this purpose).

    Security DVRs also have data ports to export video for archiving while TV DVRs do not.

    Buy a security DVR for security use not for channel surfing.
