  1. NO. The prescriptions are not the same, you do need to have a seperate prescription for eyeglasses and contacts. If you have never worn contacts before you made need to have a fitting done first.

  2. It is always best to get advise from your optician. My glasses prescription has change to +5.50 from +4.00 and because it is such a big change I have been prescribed with +5.00 glasses. I have also been given contact lenses in the same +5.00 prescription. And I have had no problems with the contacts.

  3. Yes, you can. It might be a good idea to go ahead and get another prescription in case your prescription has changed, worsen or gotten better. There are also some ppl whose eye sight is not the same in both eyes, you would know if this is your case, it's really up to you. and what you think is best for your eyes.

  4. definitely.  they use the same prescription to make contacts and eyeglasses.

  5. You need seperate presciptions. Most eye doctors will write a prescription for both when you get an eye exam.I believe eyeglasses is more of a recommendation, but you need a prescription to order contacts online or through an eye doctor. the prescription is good for a year, which is how eye doctors make all their money

  6. All of those who answered, yes you can, have no clue what they are talking about.

I'll never understand why so many people with no technical knowledge of the subject jump in and give wrong advice.

If your Glasses Rx is at -4.50 or higher , then the power has to be changed for contacts. If you have a cylinder power of  0.50 or over in your glasses, then your contact Rx has to be changed to compensate for that too.

No one can just say, yes you can, without seeing the glasses Rx, and knowing anything about  how the conversion works.

Besides not knowing what power you may need...you can't guess at the curvature of the contacts either. That is all why you need a separate Rx for contacts.

  7. Yes.  Of course

  8. There is another reason for not trying to adapt your eyeglass prescrittion for contact lenses.  Contact lens fitting and wearing is a whole separate subject than fitting glasses.  The doctor may not have anticipated that you were going to attempt contact lens wear.  He may not have charged you for the extra work and responsibility of contacts.

Who would you go to if you had a problem with contacts?  What if your vision was not what you expected?  What if new vessels started growing in your cornea?  How would you obtain lenses? etc.

  9. yes, just ask for contacts

  10. as long a scrip is not expired....

  11. No- your eyeballs needs to be measured. Contacts are different then lenses in your eyeglasses.

  12. No, they're different. You need a separate prescription for contacts. For contacts, the optometrist also needs to measure your eyes.

  13. yes i have and they were okay with it so ask your doc.

  14. YES

  15. No. There are additional measurements that need to be made to the curvature of your eye to make sure that the contacts fit properly, and most optometrists charge you more for that exam and a trial pair of lenses.

  16. It may be different and they have to measure your eyefor fit and if you hav astigmatism then the lens will differnt than a regular near/far sighted persons.
