Can i use my laptop as wireless router to my macbok pro?

i have a wire router and i've my PS3 and my laptop acer aspire 6920 connected to the router... my brother bought a macbok pro 17'.. so i'm trying to use my laptop as wireless router so i can connect the mac anywhere in the house.. can i do it? and how? thanks for the help..

  1. Not without some serious modification. You'd basically have to get a wireless router and put the part that makes it do what i does inside your laptop and hook it up somewhere for you to be able to do what you want it to.

    Your best option is just to get a wireless router.


  2. NO you cannot do this.  A laptop is not an access point for WIFI.  The only thing to use is either another wireless router, or an access point to extend your current wifi.

  3. You can, you have to set up a Virtual Private Network on your laptop. Or, there is an option in Internet Settings that you can share your network.
