Can i use my laptop while on the plane?

The correct answer is most cases yes, however it will depend on the airline and type of aircraft.  If laptops are allowed the flight crew will make an announcement when it is okay to use them and later when to turn them off.  I use mine all the time and take a spare battery for long flight.
