Can i use my own packaging for USPS media mail?

I am mailing a dvd, so i went to pathmark and bought those bubble wrap mailers. Will this work when i ask for media mail, or do USPS have their own designated types of envelopes

  1. You may certainly use your own packaging materials. USPS does not provide, at no charge, any material for shipping for anything other than Priority Mail or Express Mail.

    USPS does sell materials, but they can be more expensive than you can find elsewhere.

    Considering that you are sending a single DVD, even if it is in a clamshell case, check to be sure that Media Mail is your best option. Up to around 6 or 7 ounces, First Class Mail is less than Media Mail. This is because First Class Mail is charged by the ounce and Media Mail rates start at 1 pound.
