Can i use regular AV cables for vedio component?

i use to connect my dvd player to my lcd tv using a single vedio cable..but i want to change it to vedio component (Y R B)

I need to connect 3 cabes now..but is it the same type of cables or i should buy a special cable 4 it?pls

  1. You have to buy a seperate component cable unless one came with the dvd player. Good luck and have fun.


  2. Use the correct 75 ohm video cables for component. You should not sub a audio cable for a video one.

  3. It is possible to just use 2 AV cable sets for component video.  Use 1 set for the Y, Pr, Pb video connections, then just the red/white cables on the second set for the audio connections.

    However, be aware that component video cables are generally a bit higher quality than the standard yellow video cable.  You may notice some degradation in the picture - depending on the quality of the cables you use.

    That said, you should be able to find a decent set of component video cables for under $20.  Anything higher is just a waste of money.
