  1. yea u can use tea tree i once ran out of horse shampoo so instead i use tea tree shampoo and it didn'tt effect ma horse at all

  2. I advise to dilute anything you put on a horse, so that it rinses off properly.  I got some T-gel therapeutic shampoo to use on ours (he gets allergies).

  3. I've seen many types of shampoo being used on horses, including tea tree oil, and it doesn't seem to do any harm. It should be okay, but after the first time you've used it, keep a look out for signs of agitation

  4. No.  tea tree can cause terrible allergies and sores to humans and horses.  We have answered this question before, and if I find you are using these things on horse I will make every effort to find out and report you to RSPCA.

Also using shampoo and conditioner on mane and tail will cause them to become unmanageable.  It will make them too silky and smooth to do anything with - if it does not set up an allergy and cause him or her to rub it all out!

  5. yes, tea tree has the same properties to horses as it does to humans

  6. yes i have used tea tree shampoo on a horse i had on loan that was allergic to all kinds of bites. It was a proper horse shampoo tho i wouldnt recommend using a human one. u can also get tea tree ointment for bites etc again a proper horse one

  7. Link to equine tea tree shampoo.

It will be much cheaper than the human ones!

  8. I have only ever heard of it being used on the mane and tail.

  9. id say just  go and buy HORSE shampoo & conditioner

  10. We use to use the horse shampoo on ours, but i dont know.

    I dont see why not!

  11. Tea tree is an antiseptic with a similar makeup to TCP, Dettol, and the like.  Just because it occurs in nature, doesn't mean it's safe!

Many many horses (and people) experience bad reactions to tea tree oil, and for that reason it is not recommended.  Also, continued use of small concentrations (ie enough to work slightly, but not enough to cause such reactions as to be entirely banned) of antiseptics leads to resistant strains of organisms.

  12. why don't you get horse shampoo it's just as cheap and you know there wont be any problems

  13. Dont listen to Geez Zakiit. Tea tree is herbal but if you havent used it on this horse before use caution. Some horses have allergies to herbal ingreidents and can get hives and such. But why use tea tree. I suggest getting a horse recommended shampoo.

  14. I don't see why not. You can get tea tree horse shampoo so should be fine.

I got some cheap stuff out of the supermarket which I use on his tail and legs and I find it really good.

Just use enough to get a good lather in the same way you do your own hair and make sure to rinse it all out otherwise they will foam up when it rains.

  15. Geez Zakiit...take it easy on this person...they are just asking a question and you threaten to call the SPCA....my goodness do you need a chill pill. Could you find it in yourself to answer the question without jumping down the kids throat? I'd like to see you do that in person to someone...cause I sure know what I would do if someone spoke to me like that....

And to the person asking the question...you should ask your vet. I know some people who make their own fly spray use Tea Tree Oil...but they talked to their vet first.
