Can i use the dvd drive to run a disc that's supposed to be use in the cd-rom? like an installation cd?

can i use my dvd drive to reinstall another windows? im using windows xp and i want xp black and my cd-rom can't play it....i just want to know how to make the dvd drive use it..

  1. Most DVD drives are DVD/CD so yes, you should just be able to put the cd in and it should work.

    Put disc in DVD drive

    Start

    Run

    Browse for CD and Open

    Select Autorun or Setup

    or

    Open My Computer icon

    Open DVD drive icon

    Select Autorun or Setup
