can i use the weight of an object expressed in Newtons as an alternative for force in getting the total Work applied to it?

  1. Yes, as long as you don't forget multiplying it with 'g', gravitational acceleration.

    For work you've to multiply with distance.


  2. If you're on Earth and the only force being applied is the gravitational force, then you can use weight, since weight is by definition equal to gravitational force.  If you're in space or non-gravitational forces are at work, no dice.
