  1. veggie oil will eventually go rancid. 3 in 1 oil, vaseline petroleum jelly, mineral oil or wd 40 would be better

  2. It can work but there are better products out there for this Like wd-40 or silicone spray or machine oil. The vegetable oil will work also but it could attract: knats, mice, dogs, skunks, flies, squirrels, rats, cats, chipmunks, bees, etc.

  3. If you don't have anything else, go for it.  Usually the rollers are worn causing it to be hard to roll.

  4. it would not hurt. I would go with wd 40 instead

  5. the best is silicone spray. dont use any spray cotaining oil.

  6. No, vegetable oil would be the worst thing to use. It would quickly go bad, especially exposed to the outside weather.

Using WD-40 will just collect the dust, and make the door harder to open.

The best thing to use is Silicone Spray Lubricant. You can get it at any hardware store. Clean the door track and rollers very well, and apply the spray. It should make it slide smoothly for a long time, without having to reapply too often.

  7. I use candle wax if I don't have oil. like someone above said cooking oil will turn rancid and smell
