Can i visit my friends in US with my Canadian student permit?

You need a passport to fly.

If you are from most other places in the world you will need a passport.

You will need your passport and student permit to get back into Canada.

If you have all this you can go any time you like

As long as you have your passport, and no criminal history, you will be allowed to enter the US. Just be sure to provide all the proper documentation.

If you have your passport there should be no problem.  You may want to check with the US embassy in Ottawa to be certain, but it should be fine.
