Can i wash a 100% acrylic beanie in hot water?

i want to make it shrink because its too big.

can i was it in hot water and put it in the dryer?

Acrylic fabric won't shrink. Take a tuck in the back of it.

EDIT---It means to take a needle and thread and see how much too big it is and put a little pleat in it, a tuck so it will fit tighter.
